Black rose

I know you tried to turn your life around
from the darkness it seemed to have found,
as I help you to your feet
the perfume of heroin smells bittersweet

why did you give me this rose of red

you left me too many questions in my head...
look at myself in the mirror only to find
the battered and abused  thin shadow of myself
and how I wish that I was blind

I saw reflected in its silk red flower
the beauty of this fallen angel I admire
to lighten up the darkness from the truth so stark
hidden in the back room of your life so dark.

So if I grip the rose and hold it tightly in
to feel no pain as the thorns pierce my heart tearing at my skin
just another cut just another but this time so deep
the thoughts of you in my mind as now I rest my eyes to sleep

just want to rest my eyes to sleep .

I look at my life and I look at yours
but I can’t match the score
too many things so deep and dark to cloud my sanity
so much sadness so real when the truth is so clear to see

The needle drained tells the truth as there you lie
and the rose once so red

weeps its colour as it dies.
